About This Association
We are one of the oldest and largest women’s organizations in the nation, serving women, girls and their families. Since the first YWCA was established more than 160 years, we have been leaders within some of our nation’s biggest challenges for women — from voting rights to civil rights, from affordable housing to pay equity, from violence prevention to health care reform. YWCA South Florida has been at the forefront of some of South Florida’s most significant social issues since it was founded in 1921 and has worked to improve the lives of more than 3.1 million adults and children. YWCA South Florida combines programming and advocacy in order to generate institutional change across four key areas: racial justice and civil rights; empowerment and economic advancement of women and girls; early education; and health and safety of women and girls.
