About This Association
On May 17, 2019, the American Board of Industrial Hygiene® (ABIH®) announced that it had changed its name to the Board for Global EHS Credentialing® (BGC®) to more accurately reflect our new organizational structure and wider range of credentials and designations for improving public and environmental protection. These include the Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Associate Industrial Hygienist (CAIH), Certified Professional Product Steward (CPPS), Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA), Certified Process Safety Auditor (CPSA), Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP), and Environmental Professional In-Training (EPI). We now refer to our organization and governing body as the Board for Global EHS Credentialing (BGC) and retain the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH), Institute of Professional Environmental Practice (IPEP), and Board of Environmental, Health & Safety Auditor Certifications (BEAC) to identify credentialing divisions under BGC’s organizational umbrella.
