About This Association

ASLO began over 80 years ago! It traces its roots to the Limnological Society of America (LSA), which was established in 1936. In 1948, the LSA merged with the Oceanographic Society of the Pacific to become the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography, renamed in 2011 to the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography to better reflect its increasingly international nature. In this section, you can learn all about ASLO, its mission and goals, and its many activities supported by teams of volunteers.
