About This Association
In May 1932 Ye Olde Kings Highway Stamp Club was founded in Noroton. The name and original insignia of the club derived from a sign that stood for many years at the intersection of the Post Road and Old King's Highway at the foot of Noroton Hill. According to membership records of the American Philatelic Society, YOKHSC is the 27th oldest stamp club in the United States. The organization's founder, the Rev. Dr. Floyd S. Leach, was a rector at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Noroton. In addition to philately, Leach's hobbies included photography, woodworking and gardening. Among his philatelic interests was the the best assemblage of Siberian covers in the world. He was a member of the club for nearly 35 years, becoming honorary chairman in 1935.
